At our estate, centuries of wine culture feel wonderfully close. In the spacious park surrounding the historic winegrower’s villa, above the vaulted cellar and beneath old trees framed by hydrangeas, roses and lavender, you can savour our Riesling, Pinot and Chardonnay wines with all your senses.

We live and work with nature; it is our most precious resource.
Preserving this cultural landscape and its steep vineyards calls for responsible viticulture close to nature. Alongside gentle pruning, this means avoiding insecticides, acaricides and herbicides.

Our wines receive the same care as our vineyards throughout the year and our grapes at harvest. After natural settling, they ferment with native yeasts in stainless steel and large oak casks made by Stockinger, deep in our consistently cool slate cellar dating from 1924.
Working with the contrasting vineyards of Herrenberg and Bockstein, our team continues to refine a style that is unmistakably Saar: approachable, expressive and clear, with elegant, ripe acidity.

Weingut Reverchon

More than 2,000 years ago, the Romans brought vines to the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer, establishing viticulture along these three rivers. Here on the lower Saar, sparse Devonian slate soils and a distinctive microclimate provide ideal conditions for wines of delicacy and finesse. In the 19th century, Rieslings from the Saar’s most prestigious vineyards commanded higher prices than wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy. Our estate was already well known at that time.

Our Vineyards

As one of the Saar’s historic wine estates, with a history reaching back to 1627 and beyond, Reverchon produces mineral wines that express the character of this region. The monumental Bockstein in Ockfen and our home vineyard, Herrenberg in Filzen, directly behind the estate, provide outstanding conditions for distinctive wines that reflect their terroir.

A high proportion of old vines, some up to a hundred years old and some ungrafted, together with the replanting of low-yielding, small-berried vine material, lays the foundation for complex, expressive wines. Our vineyards lie along the lower Saar at elevations of 160–250 metres. In this cool climate, the grapes develop particularly delicate aromas.

The 6.5-hectare Herrenberg, a steep vineyard on weathered Devonian slate, has been cultivated for a millennium and is owned exclusively by our estate.

Our work in sustainable viticulture has been certified by FAIR’N GREEN since 2017. Every day, we strive to improve further.

Outstanding Wines

We are particularly proud of our complex, ageworthy terroir wines.
Our Riesling collection is crowned by the Grand Cru wines from the historic steep vineyards of Filzener Herrenberg, owned exclusively by the estate, and Ockfener Bockstein. Our estate wines represent the three classic regional styles: dry, feinherb (off-dry) and fruit-sweet. Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir complement Riesling along the Saar and are also part of our vineyards. We also maintain a collection of mature single-vineyard Rieslings from outstanding vintages spanning the last 60 years.

Our traditional-method sparkling wines have a long history: sparkling wine from the Saar already enjoyed a formidable reputation in the 19th century. Then as now, the base wines made from our own grapes spend a long time on the lees, developing delicate aromas and an elegant mousse.

Landhaus

An idyllic, peaceful country retreat near the Roman city of Trier. For more than 200 years, people have enjoyed comfortable stays here, in the shadow of the vineyards and on the banks of the Saar. Our carefully restored, listed manor house, built around 1880 in the Swiss country-house style, offers a beautiful place to spend the night.

Brickwork alternates with local sandstone, while cast-iron columns from Belgium, parquet floors and mosaic cement tiles sit alongside art collected by the owner. Guests at Weingut and Landhaus Reverchon enjoy memorable days shaped by the wines and landscape of the Saar.
